REPORT: CLOSE AIDE OF TALIBAN LEADER MULLAH OMAR ARRESTED Local Pakistani press reports that former governor of Afghanistan’s Oruzgan province, Abdul Hai Salik, a close aide to the elusive Taliban leader, was arrested Thursday in Karachi, together with a wealthy associated accused of financing Al Qaeda. The report says that Mullah Omar may also be in the Pakistani city. (IANS/AAJ)

DUBAI ANNOUNCES $9.5 BILLION RESTRUCTURING FOR DUBAI WORLD The plan aims to straighten out finances of troubled conglomerate, including $8 billion of bailout capital destined for Nakheel, its development arm. (FT)

CHINESE TECH COMPANIES  BREAK TIES WITH GOOGLE, AS FALLOUT SPREADS Two more Chinese companies say they won’t do business with Google, after the US internet giant moved operations to Hong Kong and announced end to censoring searches.
