EARTHQUAKE STRIKES CALIFORNIA-MEXICO BORDER A 5.7-magnitude earthquake strikes 70 miles east of San Diego, at 9:26 PM, local time. The quake was soon followed by dozens of smaller earthquakes, though so far, no immediate damage has been reported. (CNN)

IRAN WILL SEND AID SHIPS TO GAZA Iran’s state news agency reports that the Islamic Republic will begin sending ships carrying aid to Gaza, beginning this week. The move could exacerbate relations and heighten tensions between Tehran and Israel. (Al-Jazeera)

PAKISTAN POLICE ARREST AMERICAN ‘BIN-LADEN HUNTER’
Pakistani police arrest a middle-aged American man in Pakistan, allegedly on a vigilante mission to hunt down and kill Osama Bin-Laden. Authorities say the man was carrying a dagger, a pistol and a sword. (AFP)

NORTH KOREA OBTAINS RIGHTS TO BROADCAST WORLD CUP
North Korea brokers a deal with Malaysia’s Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, allowing the country to receive telecasts of World Cup matches in South Africa. Previously, South Korea had feared that its neighbors were illegally stealing the country’s signal to broadcast the games. (WSJ)

IRAN SAYS NUCLEAR DEAL WITH BRAZIL, TURKEY ‘STILL ALIVE’
Even as his country faces another round of UN-imposed economic sanctions, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad insists that nuclear swap deals with Brazil and Turkey are very much alive. The deal was initially signed on May 17, but was later snuffed out, due to pressure from Western powers. (AFP)
