VATICAN DENIES NEW ACCUSATIONS OF COMPLICITY IN SEX ABUSE The Vatican says a 1997 letter warning Irish bishops against reporting sexual abuse of children to police has been misunderstood. Critics say the letter is “smoking gun” of Holy See complicity in massive global crisis of priest sex abuse. (AP)
